An 1861 speech given by James at the Warren County July 4th celebration. Diary kept by James, Aug.-Sept., 1862 with lengthy entries discussing each days experiences. A letter to Quartermaster General Montgomery C. Meigs from Fort Donelson explaining his difficulty in accounting for all clothing and equipment his company received. A few family letters. An 1869 letter by James regarding the building of a new county courthouse. The majority of the collection is made up of a few muster rolls and reports, commissions, discharges, pension papers and letters and documents related to GAR activities.
